International Women's Day
Pad Distribution

To commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day celebration, WMC took a field trip to Maikunkele in Bosso LGA of Niger State to distribute free sanitary pads for the girls in Abdullahi Dada Secondary School.

What we did...

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to gift over sixty girls sanitary pads in different proportions. To encourage academic excellence, we gifted girls who performed better in school with a one-year supply of sanitary pads while the rest got three months’ supply.

With a seminar on period hygiene from Hajara Abdulkadir preceding the distribution, the girls were perfectly equipped with knowledge of the best sanitary practices for their periods.

A school near you could be next...

The WE-Mentorship Club pad drive initiative aims to provide six hundred (600) girls from around Nigeria with a one-year supply of sanitary pads. The Club is taking up this initiative because it believes that we cannot talk about preparing women and girls for excellence and success without talking about one of the most significant aspects of women's health and well-being that affect academics and career performances.

According to UNICEF, on average, a woman menstruates for about seven (7) years of her life. For girls and women in Nigeria where the poverty rate and inflation are continually on the rise, this already painful experience is made worse by poverty, period poverty, stigmatization and shame.

Health is wealth. Only the healthy can pursue excellence. With your help, we can improved the chances of the Nigerian girl by giving her the period supplies she needs to make her menstrual experience easier.
Therefore to commemorate the 2024 International Women's Day on March 8, WE-Mentorship Club distributed a one-year supply of pads to 100 girls in the school.
